The Greatest Hazards on the Road

Many of us have fears of flying but are happy to get into a car whenever we need to. Statistically, you’re much, much more likely to be in a car accident than you are to ever be involved in an incident on a plane. Our roads are dangerous places to be, but we need to use them to get around. Being aware of the major hazards and doing what you can to stay safe is the best you can do.

Drunk Drivers

Drivers under the influence of alcohol or other drugs are a major cause of road accidents, and the problem is worse in some places than in others. Being drunk or under the influence of other drugs impairs your judgement, slows your reaction times, and more. Not only should you take responsibility for yourself, but you should discourage friends and family from drink driving too.

We all like a bit of a thrill sometimes, and we can be impatient too. Speeding is pretty common and generally accepted as something that most people do occasionally. But driving above the speed limit contributes to a great deal of traffic accidents.

Adverse Weather

Driving in bad weather, like driving at night, can be tricky. The conditions are different, whether it’s icy roads or fog, but people don’t often take that into account and adjust their driving. If you want to be safe on the roads, be careful when the weather is bad.

Distracted Drivers

Distracted driving is a major cause of accidents on the road. It can include things like texting or talking on the phone, eating, or even putting on makeup.
